The saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”… Well it’s bogus to me.
What if what doesn’t kill you messes you up?
What if it gives you PTSD?
What if what doesn’t kill you causes you to have dysfunctional habits or irrational coping behaviours?
I mean is that phrase speaking in the terms of the physical sense of death?!?
because most things that make one feel as if we would be better off dead,
haunt us for the rest of our lives or at the very least a large chunk of time.
I know, dark topic.
But truly ~ "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" isn't always a cheerio thing to say just because you perhaps don't know what to say. These words are not always the most encouraging words to say to someone. Even more so when you can't relate to their life or situation.
